Thank you for agreeing to appear as a Guest on the Breakthrough Builders Podcast – we are grateful to be able to share your passions, perspectives, instincts, and ideas with our audience. Here are some technical requirements and prep notes to help ensure that your conversation with Jesse is a great one.

Items Needed Prior to Recording

  • A high-resolution headshot (must be at least 3,500 x 3,500 pixels; usually translates to 1.5-5Mb JPEG file size) for use in merchandising and promoting your episode.

  • The bio that you would like us to use in the show notes and in our on-air introduction of you as a Guest.

Technical Requirements & Considerations

  • You will be sent a link for your remote recording. Please make sure you open the link with Chrome. When joining, Riverside will ask if you are using headphones—please mark "Yes."

  • Headphones are required. Hardwired headphones are preferred.

  • Please ensure you will have access to a high-quality microphone on the day of the recording. If you do not have access to headphones, or to a high-quality mic, please email Nicole, our show coordinator, at nicole@studiopodsf.com and we will work with you to drop-ship you the gear you need. The quality and clarity of the audio is the most important part of the experience of the Podcast, but can also be the hardest to get right if we don’t plan ahead. When using a high quality mic, please make sure you are speaking 6 - 12 inches away from the mic.

  • Please locate yourself in a quiet space for your interview, preferably away from windows in a room with low ceilings and carpeting.

  • Please close all unnecessary programs and applications to free up your computer’s processing power and avoid interrupting notifications.

  • Please mute your phone.

Here’s the Rundown of the Show

Several days prior to the recording, we will ask for 20-25 minutes of your time on Zoom for a prep call. During this prep call, you and Jesse will discuss the planned arc of the conversation for your episode, and you will begin to develop a conversational rhythm that can carry over to recording day. You will also meet one of our show producers, who will ensure that you have all of the right technology, share how things will work on recording day, and answer any tech/logistics questions you have.

On the day of the recording, we will record for ~60 minutes to generate content for a ~30 min show. We’ll follow the question set that you and Jesse discussed on the prep call, inclusive of any feedback/builds you had to the first draft.

Questions to Help You Prep

  • If I’d met you as a 12 year old, who’s the person I would have met?

  • How did you discover and explore your passion for what you do?

  • What kinds of people, events, or experiences influenced you when you were young?

  • What would surprise people to know about what it takes to do what you do?

  • What is the balance of serendipity and intention that you’ve brought to your career?

  • What are you most proud of and why?

What Happens After the Recording

A new episode of Breakthrough Builders drops every two weeks on Wednesday. It appears with full show notes and is available for listening and download on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or “wherever you get your podcasts” as we say in the business :). You and Jesse will have discussed the specific date of your episode drop prior to recording, but if for any reason you would like to change the timing, please let us know.

Please share your interview on the show with your network via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and email, once the show is live. If you work for a company, please work with your company’s social team so that they can post the episode in accordance with the company’s marketing calendar.
